Supplemental Guidance
A computerized maintenance management system maintains a database of information about the maintenance operations of organizations and automates the processing of equipment condition data to trigger maintenance planning, execution, and reporting.
Practitioner Notes
This enhancement requires automated tools to collect and transfer predictive maintenance data to a maintenance management system. This removes the manual step of checking health metrics and automates the workflow.
Example 1: Configure your server management tools (Dell OpenManage, HP OneView, or Lenovo XClarity) to automatically feed hardware health data into your IT service management platform (ServiceNow, Jira). When a component health alert triggers, a maintenance ticket is automatically created.
Example 2: Use Azure Monitor or AWS CloudWatch to collect infrastructure health metrics and set up automated alerts that create maintenance requests in your ticketing system when predictive thresholds are crossed — for example, when a disk's remaining useful life drops below 20 percent.
