Practitioner Notes
Physical barriers — fences, walls, bollards, planters — limit access to your facility by creating physical obstacles that direct people to controlled entry points.
Example 1: Install perimeter fencing around your facility with controlled entry gates. Use anti-climb fencing (topped with barbed wire or similar) for high-security areas. Ensure all perimeter barriers funnel foot and vehicle traffic to monitored access points.
Example 2: For office buildings, use lobby turnstiles or access gates that require badge authentication. Install reinforced doors with anti-tailgating features on critical areas. Use bollards or planters to prevent vehicle approach to building entrances where systems are located.
