Practitioner Notes
This enhancement requires automated water detection near your systems — sensors that detect water and alert the right people before equipment is damaged.
Example 1: Install water leak detection sensors (rope-style or spot sensors) under raised flooring in the server room, below HVAC units, and near any water pipes. Connect them to your environmental monitoring system (APC NetBotz, AKCP) for immediate alerting via email and text.
Example 2: Use standalone water detection alarms (like the Honeywell Lyric water sensor or Phyn smart water monitor) as a low-cost option for smaller installations. Place them under server racks, near CRAC units, and at any low point in the server room where water would accumulate first.
