SIPRNet

SIPRNet (Secret Internet Protocol Router Network) is the DoD's classified network for transmitting information up to the Secret level. It's a completely separate network from the internet and from NIPRNet — physically and logically isolated to protect classified information.

Access to SIPRNet requires a security clearance, and systems connected to SIPRNet must meet stringent security requirements. If your contract requires access to classified information, you may need SIPRNet connectivity, which involves additional security infrastructure and oversight.

Why It Matters

If your work involves classified data, understanding SIPRNet requirements helps you plan for the additional security infrastructure, personnel clearances, and facility requirements needed to access and protect classified information.
