Platform as a Service (PaaS) is a cloud delivery model that provides a platform for developing, running, and managing applications without the complexity of managing the underlying infrastructure. PaaS sits between SaaS and IaaS — the provider manages the infrastructure and platform components while you manage the applications and data running on top.

PaaS offerings include database services, application hosting platforms, and development environments. Security responsibility in PaaS is shared — you handle application security, data protection, and user access, while the provider handles platform and infrastructure security.
