IAVT

An Information Assurance Vulnerability Technical Advisory (IAVT) is the lowest-priority IAVM notice, providing awareness of vulnerabilities that may affect DoD systems but don't require mandatory patching within a specified timeframe. IAVTs are informational — they help system administrators stay aware of emerging vulnerabilities.

While IAVTs don't carry mandatory compliance deadlines like IAVAs and IAVBs, they represent good intelligence about your threat landscape. Smart organizations track IAVTs and incorporate relevant patches into their regular maintenance cycles.

Why It Matters

Proactively addressing IAVTs shows mature vulnerability management. While they won't generate compliance findings on their own, unpatched IAVT vulnerabilities can still be exploited by adversaries.
