CYBERCOM
United States Cyber Command (CYBERCOM) is the unified combatant command responsible for the DoD's cyberspace operations. CYBERCOM directs, synchronizes, and coordinates cyberspace operations in defense of DoD networks and, when directed, conducts offensive cyber operations in support of national objectives.
While defense contractors don't interact directly with CYBERCOM, the command's directives and priorities flow down through the DoD and influence the cybersecurity requirements that contractors must meet.
Why It Matters
CYBERCOM's priorities shape the DoD's cybersecurity focus areas. Understanding their strategic direction helps you anticipate where compliance requirements are heading and what capabilities the DoD will value in its contractors.
